March On Soldier

March On SoldierAs Some of you might know the month of March is Women’s History Month. Women have evolved and surpass so many obstacles. They have looked diversity and ignorance in the face and broke down the barriers, open doors that were slammed in their faces . The Month of March is also a special month that honor survivors of breast cancer. This is called the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I wanted to do something using my poetry to send a message to a good friend of mine whose mother is battling Cancer. I also wanted to send this to my mother who has lost her mother in the fight of breast cancer. You are so strong and this poem is for you !

I will stand in the face of fear ! I will ball up my fist and prepare myself to battle. My chin toward the sky in heaven’s applause . My father looking down on me .My shield in my right hand my feet planted in the roots of the earth . The wind chanting in my ear I will not back down . I will stand until the fog clears until the rain has ceased and the night is calm . I will stand until the sun is gleaming across my back and wind has no need for me ! I will hold up my shield against the ghost that hunts my dreams against the fear that continues to face me. I will hang on to the last strand of rope until the sands of time vanish. I will stand steady, not broken, willing not eager I will stand and defend my soul. I will not be captive, shackled or tied down I will fight . I will march and I will look toward you with no amount of fear ! For you shall not have that piece of me ! I stand, I ride and I fight !

Little Sista With Love

jakela.jpgOften times I gaze at you I see a little girl, but as I come to realize your not so little anymore. How you’ve grown into a woman seems so unreal to me. Yet I still see you in my eyes a baby roaming free. I may forget to tell you how much I really care . Here are a few things I feel I need to share.

I ‘m always here to argue over clothes, tell you to get off the phone, complain about your bathroom time, make sure your homework is done right pass the kleenex to you when your heart is sore. Warm your spirits in the midst of storms. Paint your toenails whe your feeling lazy. Dance around the house in order to keep you happy. Share make up tips and pointer’s gvie you sisterly advice. Sing our favorite tunes while crusing in your ride.Hug you if it’s not to embarrassing in front of your girlfriend crew. It’s the little things that mean so much and little things I cherrish . Little sister I’m always hereand forever I’ll be near . Call if you chip a nail need some company to the nail shop. Sit around the hair salon talking under hair dryers. Never far and not a bother, It’s official I’m here to stay. Little sister with all my love I’ll never go away :)

A Quote Of The Moment

forest.jpg            I once read something that a famous renowed poet wrote about poetry. It was Emily Dickinson, she gave a description of poetry that inspired me so that I kept this poem / quote inside my notebook. It goes ….

My letter to the world that never wrote to me . Simple news that nature told with tender majesty. Her message is committed to hands I can not see for her sweet love of countrymen judge tenderly of me !

working                                                                                         Things I am grateful for

I am grateful for my mother . Her honesty is always  said out of love. I am grateful for my husband . He continues to tell me how beautiful Iam after four kids, my shoe size going from size seven to ten. He still loves me and takes me just the way Iam. I am grateful because I have people in my life that truly love me. If you have someone in your life, let them know how grateful you are.

Grateful for the little things we share, grateful for laughs & memories we cherrish. Grateful to hear your voice on the telephone. Grateful for that sense of belonging. Grateful to have so many of you in my life . Grateful that each moment I have is blessing .
